For the last couple of days, I’ve been reading on Personality Types and Patterns, after a talk with my best friend and dear cousin Hasan, he introduced me to MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator). Basically, it’s a set of indicators of the 4 common behaviors in a human beings, the different combinations between these behaviors divides people to 16 different personality types, each is reprsented by combining the 4 dominant factors of the daily behavior of a certain person. These factors are best presented by answering the following questions: Are you an Introvert or an Extravert? Are you a Sensor or iNtuitive? Are you a Thinker or a Feeler? Are you a Judger or a Perceiver? Of course, you can't answer right away, most people take a free MBTI test to determine their type, others simply look at a list of common indicators of each behavior, and decide for themselves which behaviors fit them best. either way, once you figured your dominant behaviors, your personality type will be the combination of the bold letters in these behaviors.
For example, if you're like me, your will turn out to be: an Introvert a Sensor a Thinker a Judger and as a result, your type would be ISTJ. When you read the description of your type, you will be surprised of how accurately it describes you. a lot of things will be clarified and explained, you'd know why it is that you get along very well with some people, while some other guys just get on your nerves. it all comes down to personality types.
People with similar or close personality types to your own see the world in a way that is similar to the way you do, while people with different or opposite types are simply wired differently.. and you will probably never see the world as they see it.
And, if you are a TV guy, like me, you'll notice that a lot of the TV characters that you like or relate to are actually very close to your type, while TV characters who you find repulsive or strange will most likely turn out to have Personality Types that are very different than yours... Here, I’ll mention some names that i liked very much in TV, i related to them a lot, and it turned out that they have (or they're thought to have) the same personality type as me, which is ISTJ: Dexter Morgan - Dexter
Adrian Monk - Monk
Jack Shephard - Lost Sayid Jarrah - Lost Sara Tancredi - Prison Break Henry Pope - Prison Break Derek Shepherd - Grey's Anatomy Richard Webber - Grey's Anatomy Noah Bennet - Heroes Mohinder Suresh - Heroes
Eric Foreman - House M.D. Jethro Gibbs - NCIS Bill Compton - True Blood Luke Danes - Gilmore Girls Richard Gilmore - Gilmore Girls
Bruce Wayne - Batman Begins
Jason Bourne - Bourne Trilogy
Hercule Poirot - Agatha Christie's Book
Hermione Granger - Harry Potter Monica Geller - Friends
Finally, now that you know your MBTI type, you might want to know which type are you most likely to get along with in a relationship. you might think: that's easy, the same type as myself, if I’m an ISTJ, my best fit would probably be an ISTJ as well, and you'd be wrong.
Of course, any individual of any type can make a relationship work with any other individual of any other type, but the best fit for any type would be a type with the same middle letters, and different terminal letters. which means, the best fit for an ISTJ is an ESTP.
Why? you ask, the answer is, some behaviors need to be complemented, while others need to be mutual. For example, an Introvert is a person who likes to listen more than talk, while an Extravert is a person who likes to talk more than listen, if we put two introverts in a relationship, you can expect nearly complete silence in their household, they would be living in separate worlds, whereas if you have two extraverts in a relationship, they would both talk, and no one would listen. the same goes for Judgers (Organized and Serious) and Perceivers (Open and Playful), two serious partners will probably result in a funless relationship, while two playful partners will never stop laughing, and never get things done. thus, balance is required.
On the other hand, the other two letters determine the way of thinking of individuals, if one is a Thinker (Rational more than Emotional), and the other was a Feeler (Emotional more than Rational), they won't understand each other, because each one views the world in a very different way from the other. and the same goes for Sensors (Practical and Realists) and Intuitive people (Dreamers and Visionaries).
